Product family
Intersim Communicator
Communications, group channels, local and cross-region delivery, private calls, availability, logging and Zone Trigger interaction.
Network Manager Suite
The licensed management product. It includes the Manager Console and permits the use of Enrollment Terminals and Zone Channel Triggers.
RP Titler
A separate paid product that displays the wearer’s group-specific role-play profile and official branch color. It is not required to use the Communicator.
Getting started
- Wear or rez the product supplied by an authorized distributor.
- The product checks the license of its current Second Life owner. A license belongs to the avatar, not to a copied object.
- Wait for the activation success message. A product without an active license remains unavailable.
- Join an authorized Intersim group through its Enrollment Terminal, through manager authorization, or with a group UUID/key when that admission method is enabled.
- Open Status or Refresh after enrollment if the product was already active.
Behavior shared by all products
| Behavior | Expected result |
|---|---|
| Owner-only menus | Configuration menus respond only to the current object owner. Visitor actions are limited to the specific public function of an Enrollment Terminal. |
| Version control | The service may recommend or require a newer product version. A blocked version stops operating and displays an update-required message. |
| Connection status | Products clearly report whether they are activating, online, offline, disabled or blocked. An ordinary reconnect does not delete memberships or preferences. |
| Ownership change | Products clear private owner data and require the new owner’s license. A no-transfer commercial object normally prevents ordinary avatar-to-avatar transfer. |
| Errors | Messages use clear levels such as INFO, SUCCESS and ERROR. Record the complete message when reporting a defect. |
Intersim Communicator
The Communicator may be worn or rezzed. When powered ON and connected to an active membership, it can send and receive communications. Touching it opens the owner menu. Equipping a powered-on Communicator automatically rebuilds its secure connection and reloads its group information from the server.
Information shown at the top of the menu
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Power | ON permits communications. OFF disables sending, receiving, calls, logs and Zone Trigger actions. |
| Group | The active Intersim group. Profiles and channels come only from this group. |
| Channel | The selected group channel. It persists through ordinary reconnects and script resets. |
| RP Name | The name used for RP channel transmission and, optionally, event logs. |
| Display / Legacy | The current Second Life Display Name and stable Legacy Name. |
| Availability | The current private-call availability. |
| Call | The current private-call state, normally idle. |
| Log name | The identity mode used for the next logged message: Display, Legacy or RP. |
| Zone lock | Shows whether temporary protection from ordinary automatic zone changes is active. |
| Audio | Mute status or power-sound volume. |
| Local chat | Included relays the wearer's nearby channel-0 chat through Intersim. Excluded leaves it only in nearby Second Life chat. Incoming messages and channel 17 remain active. |
| Group connection | Connected means the Communicator is ready to use its selected group. Connecting means it is rebuilding that connection. Disconnected means no active group connection is available. Powered OFF means communication is intentionally disabled. |
Communicator main menu
When the Communicator is OFF
Only two buttons are intentionally available.
| Button | Expected behavior |
|---|---|
| Power ON | Applies the effective ON texture, plays the selected ON sound unless muted, reconnects to the service and restores the saved group/channel state when still authorized. |
| Set RP Name | Saves a new RP Name locally while OFF. It synchronizes when the Communicator is next powered ON. |
When the Communicator is ON
| Button | Expected behavior | Availability |
|---|---|---|
| Channels | Loads only channels the active membership may receive. The list is paginated. Choosing a numbered entry changes the active channel. | Active group session |
| Status | Reports version, power, license and connection status, followed by active group/channel details when connected. | Always |
| Log Start | Starts an event log for the selected channel. | Shown only with permission |
| Log Stop | Stops the active log and begins preparation of its view link. | Shown only when allowed to stop the current log |
| Switch Group | Lists active memberships. The current group is marked [ACTIVE]. Selecting another group changes the session, channels and group profile. | Active membership |
| Leave Group | Lists memberships, then displays a confirmation containing the exact group name. Only the confirmed membership is removed. | Owners must transfer ownership first |
| Settings | Opens personal identity, availability, logging, media, connection and reset controls. | Power ON |
| Power OFF | Stops communication activity, closes call behavior, applies the OFF texture and plays the selected OFF sound unless muted. | Power ON |
| Help | Shows the basic nearby-chat and command-channel instructions. | Power ON |
Chat, channels and message formatting
| How to speak | Identity | Expected result |
|---|---|---|
| Normal nearby chat on channel 0 | Second Life Display Name | When Local Chat Relay is Included, the message is relayed to eligible Communicators in the active group and the sender receives no duplicate. When it is Excluded, the message remains ordinary nearby Second Life chat only. |
/17 Message | RP Name when set | The message is transmitted on the active Intersim channel even when Local Chat Relay is Excluded. The sender sees one local confirmation/echo. |
/17 \Alerte rouge | RP Name when set | The leading backslash is removed and recipients see =/\=Alerte rouge=/\=. |
Delivery behavior
- Eligible Communicators in the same region receive a fast regional relay while the server remains authoritative.
- Cross-region recipients receive the server-delivered message through their active connection.
- Duplicate suppression prevents the regional and server copies from appearing twice.
- A recipient must belong to the same active group and have receive permission for the channel.
- A sender must have transmit permission for the selected channel.
- FLEET WIDE exists in every group and is intended for authorized group-wide announcements. Ordinary members do not automatically receive transmit permission.
- A separately created channel named Fleet is an ordinary configurable channel and may be used for broader role-play according to manager permissions.
- Accents and special characters should remain unchanged in local delivery, cross-region delivery and logs.
Private calls
Private calls are initiated from the command channel and are restricted to reachable members of the active group.
| Action | Expected behavior |
|---|---|
/1 call Name | Searches Legacy and Display Name. One reachable match starts the call; several matches produce a numbered selection menu. |
| Accept | Accepts an incoming call and changes both call states to connected. |
| Refuse | Rejects the incoming call. The caller receives the refusal state. |
/1 hangup | Ends the current call for both participants. |
/1 block Name | Searches by name and blocks the selected avatar from placing calls to this member. |
/1 unblock Name | Removes the selected name-based call block. |
| Ambiguous name | A numbered list is displayed. The user must choose; no arbitrary first match is used. |
| Unavailable recipient | The request fails without revealing an unrelated group’s membership. |
Availability choices
Normal call availability.
Signals that the member is occupied.
Do not disturb.
Role-play mission state.
Emergency-only availability.
Suppresses normal call discoverability.
Event logs
Logs capture channel activity only after an authorized member starts a log. Unauthorized users do not see the logging buttons, and unauthorized requests remain rejected.
| Control | Expected behavior |
|---|---|
| Log Start | Starts a log on the selected channel and records the authorized starter, group and channel. |
| Log Stop | Stops capture and generates a temporary viewing link when processing completes. |
| Display Name | Future messages are labelled with the current Second Life Display Name. |
| Legacy Name | Future messages are labelled with the stable Second Life Legacy Name. |
| RP Name | Future messages are labelled with the active group RP Name. |
(( message )) | Marks a complete message as out of character. It is still transmitted to authorized Communicators but is excluded from the RP event log. |
The double parentheses must enclose the complete message after surrounding spaces are removed. Changing Log Name affects the next transmitted message; it does not rewrite earlier entries. The real member association remains available for authorized audit. Log files expire according to the configured retention period and cannot be read through another group.
Communicator Settings menu
| Button | Expected behavior |
|---|---|
| Set RP Name | Opens text entry for the name used by RP transmissions and RP-name logs. Empty names are rejected. |

| Local Chat | Shows the current Local Chat Relay state and lets the wearer choose Include or Exclude. The choice persists through ordinary script resets. |
| Lock 60m | Protects the current channel from ordinary automatic Zone Trigger changes for 60 minutes. A trigger authorized to override locks may still apply. |
| Unlock | Removes the temporary Zone Trigger channel lock. It does not lock the Communicator or change power. |
| Audio | Opens personal power-sound controls. |
| Appearance | Opens personal ON/OFF texture controls. |
| Reset Conn | Rebuilds the active connection without deleting membership or personal configuration. |
| Factory Reset | Shows a confirmation, safely closes the server session, clears operational choices and powers OFF. Local Chat Relay returns to Included. |

| ON Sound | Selects Original or a stored sound for power-on. |
| OFF Sound | Selects Original or a stored sound for power-off. |
| Original | Uses the group sound when supplied, otherwise the product default. |
Appearance menu

| Use Defaults | Clears personal texture overrides and returns to group/product priority. |
| Preview ON | Applies the effective ON texture for visual verification. |
| Preview OFF | Applies the effective OFF texture for visual verification. |
Media priority is personal override when permitted, then group setting, then product default.

Network Manager Console
The Manager Console is the in-world control center. Its owner needs an active Manager Suite license. Every action is also checked against that avatar’s group role and permissions.
Before a group is assigned to this console
| Get Groups | Lists active groups created and owned by this avatar. Choosing one restores the OWNER membership when necessary and links this console to the existing group without recreating it. |
| Create Group | Prompts for the commercial group name. Creation provisions FLEET WIDE and the owner membership. |
| Refresh | Checks again for a group already assigned to this console. Use after creation, recovery or transfer. |

| List Keys | Writes paginated safe key references, statuses, usage and expiration details to owner chat without exposing reusable secrets. |
| Revoke Key | Lists active keys directly in a paginated blue selection window, asks for confirmation, and prevents the selected key from admitting new members. Existing memberships remain unchanged. |
For terminal-only enrollment, set group admission to Closed, then configure each Enrollment Terminal as Automatic, Approval or Temporary. Closed applies to direct Communicator joins; the terminal enforces its own selected mode.

Replacement countdown text remains visible on retired Enrollment Terminals and Zone Triggers so obsolete objects can be identified before automatic removal.
Communicator appearance styles
The Communicator can include two product styles: Classic and LCARS. A style appears only when its ON and OFF textures are configured. Each style may also provide an optional private-call texture; otherwise its ON texture remains visible during a connected call.
| Control or state | Expected behavior |
|---|---|
| Style | Chooses Manager, Classic or LCARS when available. |
| Custom ON / OFF | Accepts personal texture UUIDs only when the group permits personal overrides. |
| Preview ON / OFF / Call | Temporarily displays the effective texture for that state. |
| Private call connected | Applies the effective call texture automatically; hangup immediately restores ON. |
| Manager style | Uses group ON, OFF and optional call textures. When the manager locks overrides, the menu states Locked by group manager, displays Style: Manager and hides personal choices. |
| No configured textures | The Appearance button is hidden instead of presenting an empty menu. |
Manager Media control
Call Texture sets the group private-call texture. Overrides decides whether members may replace Manager media. Clear All returns the group to product defaults.
Product updates
Each commercial object includes CasperUpdate. It checks for a published replacement and offers delivery according to the release policy. Intersim also validates supported and blocked versions, so an obsolete or unsafe version may be required to update before it can operate.
The visible product version comes from the same release version used by the integrated updater.
Zone Trigger response time
The Version 1.0 Zone Trigger checks its local region twice per second and sends new entries and exits immediately. Existing occupants are refreshed in grouped intervals to avoid unnecessary traffic. In automatic mode, a channel change normally reaches an online Communicator in approximately 1–2 seconds, although region and network load can add delay. Confirmation mode waits for the member after displaying the request.
